Flip a Coin
Flipping a Coin is a mechanical and diagetic term. It is the act of randomly generating a :Game Mechanics:Dice Pool:Result with only two outcomes.
To :Game Mechanics:Flip a Coin you can use what is referred to as a D2. While not a real physical Die, a D2 can be represented by a 2 sided coin or using a larger Die such as a D6 or D12 and declaring which Results are :Game Mechanics:Flip a Coin#Heads, and which are :Game Mechanics:Flip a Coin#Tails.
Once you've determined which method you wish to use, flip the coin or roll the Die, whichever side remains face up is your :Game Mechanics:Dice Pool:Result.
A D2 or coin can be affected by :Traits and Properties where :Game Mechanics:Definitions:Appropriate. In most cases Properties will name specific Die or sets of :Game Mechanics:Definitions:Dice they affect, these specifically cannot apply to a D2, whereas Properties such as :Game Mechanics:Definitions:Property:Fortuitous can. If you feel a particular Trait or :Game Mechanics:Definitions:Property should apply to a Coin Flip don't be afraid to have a conversation with the other Players to determine what would be the most :Game Mechanics:Definitions:Appropriate for that Coin Flip.\\
\\
**Example**: Gamblin' Greg is a :Jobs:Gambler, this gives him the :Jobs:Gambler#Double Down :Game Mechanics:Definitions:Ability. This :Game Mechanics:Definitions:Ability lets him :Game Mechanics:Flip a Coin to alter the outcome of a pending :Game Mechanics:Check, :Game Mechanics:Attack or :Game Mechanics:Save, with a :Game Mechanics:Dice Pool:Result of :Game Mechanics:Flip a Coin#Heads becoming a :Game Mechanics:Success and Failure:Success and a :Game Mechanics:Dice Pool:Result of :Game Mechanics:Flip a Coin#Tails becoming a spectacular :Game Mechanics:Success and Failure:Critical Failure. Gregs :Game Mechanics:Definitions:Player takes an Australian 20 cent coin, which has a profile of a british monarchs head for the :Game Mechanics:Flip a Coin#Heads side and an image of a platypus for the :Game Mechanics:Flip a Coin#Tails side. The Players agree that these are the :Game Mechanics:Flip a Coin#Heads and :Game Mechanics:Flip a Coin#Tails Results so Greg's :Game Mechanics:Definitions:Player then flips the coin through the air so it rotates end over end, catching or letting the coin land on the table. The coin lands with the monarch's head facing up so the :Game Mechanics:Dice Pool:Result is :Game Mechanics:Flip a Coin#Heads and therefore a :Game Mechanics:Success and Failure:Success!\\
\\
**Example 2**: The same Gamblin' Greg's :Game Mechanics:Definitions:Player as before decides they're not too great at flipping physical coins, so opts to use a D6 to :Game Mechanics:Flip a Coin instead. Gamblin' Greg's :Game Mechanics:Definitions:Player declares to the others that the even Results, 2, 4 and 6, are :Game Mechanics:Flip a Coin#Heads and the odd Results, 1, 3 and 5, are :Game Mechanics:Flip a Coin#Tails. The Players agree that these are the :Game Mechanics:Flip a Coin#Heads and :Game Mechanics:Flip a Coin#Tails Results so Greg's :Game Mechanics:Definitions:Player then rolls the D6. The :Game Mechanics:Dice Pool:Result on the Die is 3, :Game Mechanics:Flip a Coin#Tails and therefore a spectacular :Game Mechanics:Success and Failure:Critical Failure!
Heads
:Game Mechanics:Flip a Coin#Heads is a term used when Flipping a Coin. :Game Mechanics:Flip a Coin#Heads is one of two Results that can be generated on a D2 when Flipping a Coin.\\
\\
When Flipping a Coin the Results of that coin or Die must be declared if they are :Game Mechanics:Flip a Coin#Heads or :Game Mechanics:Flip a Coin#Tails.\\
\\
In the case of a coin, both sides should be distinct from each other allowing one side to clearly be declared :Game Mechanics:Flip a Coin#Heads.\\
\\
In the case of using a Die, methods such as declaring all odd or even Results as :Game Mechanics:Flip a Coin#Heads or declaring the lowest or highest half such as, 1-3 and 4-6 on a D6, :Game Mechanics:Flip a Coin#Heads are two ways this can be accomplished. Players should discuss and determine the most :Game Mechanics:Definitions:Appropriate method for their :Game Mechanics:Definitions:Dice and table.
Tails
:Game Mechanics:Flip a Coin#Tails is a term used when Flipping a Coin. :Game Mechanics:Flip a Coin#Tails is one of two Results that can be generated on a D2 when Flipping a Coin.\\
\\
When Flipping a Coin the results of that coin or Die must be declared if they are :Game Mechanics:Flip a Coin#Heads or :Game Mechanics:Flip a Coin#Tails. \\
\\
In the case of a coin, both sides should be distinct from each other allowing one side to clearly be declared :Game Mechanics:Flip a Coin#Tails.\\

In the case of using a Die, methods such as declaring all odd or even Results as :Game Mechanics:Flip a Coin#Tails or declaring the lowest or highest half such as, 1-3 and 4-6 on a D6, :Game Mechanics:Flip a Coin#Tails are two ways this can be accomplished. Players should discuss and determine the most :Game Mechanics:Definitions:Appropriate method for their :Game Mechanics:Definitions:Dice and table.
Reflip
Reflipping is a term specific to Flipping a Coin. It is the act of taking an already Flipped Coin and flipping it again for a different :Game Mechanics:Dice Pool:Result.\\
\\
A coin may be Reflipped through the use of the :Basic Abilities:Lucky Break Action even though it is not a Die, in this case it becomes a :Game Mechanics:Flip a Coin#Reflip and not a Do-Over.\\
\\
Once Reflipped a coin cannot be Reflipped again.
