Ash's Aside
This Robe is intended to protect the wearer from magical effects in the environment, like a containment suit or magical PPE. It's not supposed to prevent direct Magic Damage more hostile Spells or Inovcations, but walking through a magical Wall of Fire unharmed is intended, since it's Terrain. You may need to have discussions, moment to moment to decide what is an environmental magical effect, and what isn't. As always, when in doubt, rule of cool!
