Downgrade

Downgrade is a mechanical term. It is a regression on elements such as, but not limited to, Properties, Outcomes, Injuries or Dice.

When performing a Downgrade refer to the progression list of the element being Downgraded and move backward from your starting position once. These lists are transcluded from their pages below.

For the opposite of Downgrading, see Upgrade.

Downgradable Mechanics

Downgrading Dice

Dice can be Downgraded through the use of certain Masteries, Items or Abilities.

To Downgrade a Die you simply replace the indicated Die in the Dice Pool with the next Die as per the following progression table:

D4<D6<D8<D10<D12

If you have been granted a Downgrade but all of the Die in the Pool are already D4’s, then nothing happens. A Die cannot be Downgraded below D4.

Downgrading Injuries

This section is currently in the process of being written - AAXW!

Meat Space is currently in pre-alpha, and this page will be expanded with additional guidance, examples and context during development.

Downgrading Outcomes

Outcomes can be Downgraded through the use of certain Masteries, Items or Abilities, such as the Mettle Action.

When Downgrading the level of Outcome move backwards along the following list from your starting Outcome once per Downgrade.

Outcomes can never be Downgraded beyond Critical Failure.

Example: Johnny Tutorial performs an Attack against his foe Joe Hammerhand that is Successful. As the target of this Attack Joe uses the Mettle Action to Downgrade the Attack from a Success to a Failure.
