Bonus Die

Bonus Die are any non D20 die added to a Roll. There are a number of ways Bonus Die can be gained or affected, see below.

Proficiency

Proficiencies are a mechanic offered by Jobs and rarely by Races and Masteries that allow your Character to add their Job Die to Checks and Attacks.

Whenever a Character is Proficient in a Skill or a Rating you may add their Job Die to Checks and Attacks performed using that Skill or Rating.

Job Die

A Job Die is the Bonus Die gained from ranking up in a Job that is then added when Proficient in Checks and Attacks or Resistant in Saves.

Upgrading Dice

To Upgrade a Die you simply replace the indicated Die in the Pool with the next Die as per the following progression system:

D4>D6>D8>D10>D12

If you have been granted an Upgrade but all of the Die in the Pool are already D12’s, then nothing happens. A Die cannot be Upgraded above D12.

Downgrading Dice

To Downgrade a Die you simply replace the indicated Die in the Pool with the next Die as per the following progression system:

D4<D6<D8<D10<D12

If you have been granted a Downgrade but all of the Die in the Pool are already D4’s, then nothing happens. A Die cannot be Downgraded below D4.

Properties

Properties Such as Reliable and Exploding can modify or add Bonus Die should you be under their effects and meet their conditions.

Reliable

Trait - Property

While under the effects of this Property, when rolling a D4, D6, D8, D10 or D12, you may Reroll Results of:

  • 1 on D4's & D6's
  • 1 & 2 on D8's & D10's
  • 1, 2 & 3 on D12's.

Please Note: As a helpful reminder, Reliable only applies to the lowest 25% of possible Results on a Die.

Exploding

Trait - Property

While under the effects of this Property, whenever you would achieve a Result on a Die equal to the maximum that die can roll, such as an 8 on a D8 or 4 on a D4, you may add that Result to your Total twice.

Example: Rolling an 6 on a D6 under the effects of Exploding would cause you to add 12 to your Total.
