Cyberware

Cyberware is powerful technology that replaces parts of you body with far superior steel and wires that is much more capable than the weak flesh it replaces.

Installation

You can not install the same Cyberware more than once, abilities with the same name do not stack.

Cyberware can only be installed through a surgical procedure, this procedure can be performed by two categories of practitioner:

  • Official Doctor - The Cost of the Cyberware you wish to install is unmodified and you suffer no ill-effects from having it installed.
  • Chop Doc - The Cost of the Cyberware you wish to install is reduced by 10%, [Stacking] additively with any other reductions, but upon installation you are inflicted with the Chrome Sickness Injury:
Chrome Sickness
Injury; Severity 30
Obtain D4 Nauseated Stacks at the start of an Encounter.

Costs and Taxes

Replacing large portions of your natural form can come at quite a cost, Cyberware represents these costs through 3 Taxes and of course the Credit cost, for a description of each and how they work, continue reading.

Hardpoint Tax - You lose an amount of Hardpoints equal to the total Hardpoint Tax of all of your installed Cyberware. If your Character does not have enough Hardpoints to install a piece of Cyberware, you can't install the Cyberware. Additionally once you have spent 10 or more Hardpoints TBA

Ward Tax - You lose Ward equal to the total Ward Tax of all of your installed Cyberware. If you would have more Ward Tax than Ward, then you have 0 Ward. You can't go into negatives.

Mana Tax - You lose Mana equal to the total Mana Tax of all of your installed Cyberware. If you would have more Mana Tax than Mana, then you have 0 Mana. You can't go into negatives, however, for every Mana Tax that isn't paid upon installation, gain a Scar.
(For Example: Jim-Bob Jones wishes to install a Mk. 10 Reinforced Synth-Skin, which has a Mana Tax of 3 but he only has a total of 1 Mana. Therefore, if he were to install it, he would have 0 Mana and immediately gain 2 Scars).

Value - The amount of Credits the item would typically be worth. It may be more or less expensive depending on location, supply and demand or the relationship with the vendor.

Upkeep - The amount of Credits the owner must pay, per Cycle, to maintain the Cyberware. If the Upkeep is not paid, it will cease to function.

Cyberware Slots

Cyberware Slot is a mechanical term. It refers both to the general areas of a Character's body where Cyberware can be installed and to the maximum amount of Cyberware that can be installed in each of those locations.

A Character has a number of Cyberware Slots located on their body that corresponds to a Subtype of Cyberware. Each of these Slots varies in the amount a Character has and may only have 1 piece of Cyberware installed in each. Both the types and amounts of Cyberware Slots are listed below.

Cyberware must share a Subtype with a Slot in order to be installed in that Slot. Once installed in the correct Slot, Cyberware will provide its passive and active effects to the Character it is installed on. See Installing Cyberware for more info.

Please Note: The amount of Cyberware Slots a Character has can be modified through Abilities, such as those found in Chromer, Technomancer and Draeck.
