Spells

A Spell is a type of Action. Unless otherwise specified, a Spell takes a single Action Point to activate. It will additionally cost Mana, which will be specified by the Spell. Spells, like most Actions, require both LoS and LoE.

In addition, Spells require the caster to speak aloud some phases of power. This means that while the magic being performed may not cause sound, the caster will, possibly alerting others when performed. Additionally, the Spell will be unable to be cast if the caster cannot speak, such as, because they are gagged.

Furthermore, to cast a Spell, the caster must also perform a series of short but complex hand movements. This means that they require one Hand Slot free to cast a Spell. Note: A Two-Handed weapon requires two hands to be fired but only requires one hand to hold.

Finally, a Spell can be Counterspelled by someone taking the Counterspell Action, inside of LoS of you. This will typically cost them an amount of Mana equal to the cost of the Spell being cast plus an additional Mana.
