Upgrading or Downgrading
Upgrading or Downgrading Success and Failure
Failure and Success can by Upgraded or Downgraded through the use of certain Masteries, Item Effects and abilities, Job Abilities, or the Mettle Action.
When Downgrading simply reduce the level of Success by one like so:
Critical_Success > Success > Failure > Critical_Failure
To Upgrade increase the level of Success by one as the inverse of above.
Failure and Success may never be Upgraded or Downgraded beyond Critical.
Upgrading or Downgrading Dice
Upgrade the Die
You replace one of the die in the pool, of the type indicated, using the following progression system:
D4 > D6 > D8 > D10 > D12
If you have been granted an Upgrade but all of the Die in the pool are already D12’s, then nothing happens. A Die cannot be upgraded above D12.
Downgrade the Die
You replace one of the die in the pool, of the type indicated, using the following progression system:
D12 > D10 > D8 > D6 > D4
If you have been granted a downgrade but all of the Die in the pool are already D4’s, then nothing happens. A Die cannot be downgraded below D4.
