Total

A Total is the final number used by the game, calculated by combining all relevant Ranks, Results, bonuses, penalties and other modifiers. It is used in many places, such as determining a Characters Total Job Ranks or to communicate the Total of a Dice Pool

The Total of a Dice Pool is the combined number of all Results and Static Modifiers within that Pool. The Total of a Dice Pool is then used to determine the outcome of a pending Check, Attack, Save or [Test].

• When performing a Check, Attack or Save, if the Total is equal to or greater than the DC of that Check, Attack or Save it Succeeds, otherwise it Fails.
• When generating [Tests] the Total gives you the number on the table equal to the effect you will receive.

Example: Terrance the Technomancer is asked to take a Tech Check of DC 24.

• First she must assemble her Dice Pool by taking a D20 and then adding any Bonus Die gained from her Job, Race, Masteries, Items or any other source.
• Then those Dice are rolled and her Results added together, in this case she rolled 1D4 (Result of 2) and 1D6 (Result of 4) in addition to her D20 (Result of 16) for a combined Result of 22.
• Then add the Static Modifiers, in this case Terrance has a Wits Stat of 6 and 4 Ranks in the Tech Skill for a combined Static Modifier of +10.
• Combining these two numbers gives us a Total of 32 for the pending Tech Check which exceeds the DC of 24, allowing Terrance to achieve Success.
